At this time, students whose Learn From Home applications are accepted will continue to be bound by the 2020-21 Housing Contract and on-campus housing requirements for the spring 2021 semester only and will be charged accordingly, in accordance with their 2020-21 Housing Contracts. Faculty and Academic Staff do not track time, so unless special options are developed for them, they will continue to get paid and receive benefits unless the unit pursues an appointment reduction or leave. The Learn from Home option is intended to allow students to live at home—that is, the place they reside with a parent or legal guardian—while attending classes remotely for the fall 2020 semester. Students who receive, or anticipate receiving, Federal financial aid are strongly encouraged to contact MSU’s Office of Financial Aid or assistance in determining whether resulting changes in room and board costs for the fall 2020 semester may impact their current or future financial aid determination. Bills for fall semester are typically run the week of July 20, if your application is accepted, we will remove the charge the week of August 3.
In an effort to accommodate students, Residential and Hospitality Services is offering the opportunity to “Learn From Home” for the fall 2020 semester for all residence hall students regardless of their schedule (i.e., whether their schedule consists of online, hybrid, or in-person courses). Like many departments and teams at MSU, the WorkLife Office has compiled resources to help staff and faculty adjust to the circumstances that develop from campus closure and reduced university functions. This is not intended for those students who live in on-campus apartments.
